How to Update Your Firmware

A simple 3-step process using your SD card and adapter. No internet connection to your device required.

01

Download & Prepare

Format a microSD card (8/16/32GB) to FAT32. Download the firmware installer file and install.

02

Connect the Adapter

Insert the SD card into the ELLIPAL adapter. Plug the original charging cable into the adapter and connect it to a wall power outlet (not a computer). The adapter light should turn blue.

03

Install the Update

Turn off your ELLIPAL, place it on the charged adapter, and power it on. Go to Settings → Update. The device will detect the file, extract it, and install automatically. Do not disconnect during the process.

What Every Update Delivers

Each firmware release is engineered to protect your assets and expand what your wallet can do.

Security Patches

Critical vulnerability fixes and hardened cryptographic operations ensure your private keys remain protected against evolving threats.

New Blockchain Support

Gain access to newly supported networks and tokens. V4.11.0 adds Kaspa, Kasplex, and brings total support to 40+ blockchains and 10,000+ tokens.

100% Offline Process

Updates are installed via SD card with zero internet connectivity. Your private keys never leave the air-gapped environment during the entire process.

Performance & UX

Faster transaction signing, improved dApp smart contract parsing, and a smoother interface experience across all supported devices.

Anti-Tamper Integrity

Firmware verifies device integrity on every boot. The self-destruct mechanism ensures any physical tampering is immediately detected and data is wiped.

Multi-Account Support

Manage multiple accounts under a single mnemonic with different passphrases. A/B account feature provides duress protection at gunpoint.

Important Notes

Follow these guidelines carefully to ensure a smooth firmware update.

FAT32 format only. Your SD card must be formatted to FAT32. Cards larger than 32GB may not work. Use 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB cards.

Do not rename the file. Keep the zip file name exactly as downloaded. If your system adds a "(1)" suffix, delete it before proceeding.

Use a wall outlet. Connect the adapter to a power outlet, not a computer USB port. The adapter light must be blue after inserting the SD card.

Mac users: Use Chrome to download. Safari may auto-unzip the file, which will cause the update to fail.

One file only. Ensure only one zip firmware file is on the SD card. Delete any other files before starting the update.

Do not disconnect. Your device will reboot during the update. Do not remove it from the adapter until the process is fully complete.

Frequently Asked Questions

On your ELLIPAL device, tap the gear icon to open Settings, then select "About." Your current firmware version will be displayed at the top. The prefix tells you your device type: EC02_ for Titan, Titan2.0_ for Titan 2.0, and MINI_ for Titan Mini.
No, a standard firmware update preserves your wallet data and private keys. However, it is always best practice to ensure you have your seed phrase backed up before performing any update, just in case.
A green light means the adapter did not read the SD card correctly. Try removing and reinserting the SD card several times. If the issue persists, try a different SD card or adapter. Ensure the card is FAT32 formatted and contains only the single firmware zip file.
This can happen if the file was not read properly. Ensure the zip file is not corrupted and was not renamed. Try re-downloading the file. If the issue persists, try incrementing the last digit of the zip file name (e.g., change v4.11.0 to v4.11.1) to force the device to recognize it as a new update.
You can generally update directly to the latest version without installing intermediate versions. However, if your device is on version 1.9 or below, you must first perform the special upgrade to version 2.0 before updating to the latest release. Visit the ELLIPAL support page for the 1.9-to-2.0 migration guide.
Yes. The update is performed entirely offline via a microSD card. The ELLIPAL adapter is designed for one-directional data flow only — it can deliver the firmware to the device but cannot extract any data from it. Your private keys never leave the air-gapped environment at any point during the update.
